The latest ONS figures have revealed another increase in inflation, now at 3.8%, the highest rate in well over a year.
Under the Conservative Government, inflation fell to the 2% Bank of England target in June 2024. Since then, the rate has nearly doubled.
Commenting in a joint statement, Leader of the Sefton Conservative Group Cllr Mike Prendergast & Chairman of Sefton Conservative Federation Martyn Barber said:
“Labour’s economic mismanagement is hitting people in their pockets, with inflation nearly doubling since Keir Starmer took office."
“Inflation sat at only 2% when the Conservatives left government. Labour’s business-taxing, debt-driven, high-spend approach is failing, with the cost of basic essentials rising for people across Sefton, and all the signs are there that taxes will increase further in October"
"The socialist dogma of high taxes, high spending and further borrowing remains the biggest obstacle to economic growth in the UK."
